Short-term contract work, often facilitated by technology, is on the rise in Australia. And a new Federal Court case might change the way these "gig economy" companies work.

The Fair Work Ombudsman has started legal action against food delivery company Foodora saying that the company has been underpaying employee and treating employees as contractors.

Nightlife's Suzaane Hill asks UNSW's Professor Nick Wailes and University of Sydney's Alex Veen about how the gig economy is currently working, and what the future might hold.
