It's sometimes claimed that bringing temporary migrant workers into Australia lowers wages and opportunities for locals, but a new report has found that's not the case.

The research by the Committee for the Economic Development of Australia (CEDA) shows not only are workers on skilled migrant visas not damaging the Australian jobs market, they're actually providing a boost by paying taxes and spending their money locally.

The report does raise some concerns, including the need for greater transparency, and more targeted training for Australians through the Skilling Australia Fund.
