MWC Solidarity Hour series
The MWC "Solidarity Hour" series aims to build capacity in migrant communities and community service organisations to address issues related to labour exploitation among migrant workers.
They are short online sessions facilitated by expert trainers. The sessions include group discussion, Q&A, and hand-out resources.
Understanding WorkCover
Join us to a special session on "Understanding WorkCover: Navigating Entitlements, Changes & Legal Support" featuring a guest presenter from Gordon Legal.
In this session, Jenny Forti will cover essential topics including:
- WorkCover scheme overview
- Changes to WorkCover
- Importance of early medical intervention
- Disputing Insurer's termination of weekly payment
- Lump sum compensation for permanent injuries
- When to seek legal advice and how can lawyers help
This training is for migrant and refugee community leaders, activists, advocates and volunteers, bicultural workers, front-line support/case workers, and community service providers involved or interested in understanding WorkCover and the support available.
Guest Presenter:
Jenny is a Partner at Gordon Legal and an accredited specialist in Personal Injury Law. Her area of specialty is Workcover, having worked with injured workers for over a decade, ensuring that they can access the compensation that they are entitled to.
Jenny is a member of the Australian Lawyers Alliance Victorian Workcover Committee, has volunteered as a lawyer at West Justice and has been a director of the Western Health Foundation.
