MWC Solidarity Hour series

The MWC "Solidarity Hour" series aims to build capacity in migrant communities and community service organisations to address issues related to labour exploitation among migrant workers.

They are short online sessions facilitated by expert trainers. The sessions include group discussion, Q&A, and hand-out resources.

Changes to WorkCover

Join us for an informative session on "Changes to WorkCover: What it means to migrant workers" where we will delve into crucial updates affecting the rights and well-being of migrant workers under the WorkCover scheme.

In collaboration with Union Assist, we will cover essential topics including:

  • New eligibility requirements for mental injury claims
  • Impact of the additional whole person impairment requirement on injured workers
  • What to do if your claim is rejected
  • How to access assistance from Union Assist through the Migrant Workers Centre

This training is for emerging migrant and refugee community leaders, activists and volunteers, bicultural workers, and community service providers assisting migrant workers and their community members who are injured at work.

Facilitators:

  • Claire Mitchell (Coordinator, Union Assist)
  • Florence Dato (Community Organiser, Migrant Workers Centre)
  • Gabriel Dain (Operations Manager, Migrant Workers Centre)
